History of the Tower of Tokyo
It all started when, Japan was searching for a monument that could best symbolize their economic powerhouse. In the 1950 postwar boom, they were inspired by the Western World; they have conceptualized and built their very own Eiffel Tower. The Tokyo Tower was completed by the year 1958 amounting to ¥2.8 billion. Fukusadburo Maeda , president of the Nihon Denpato (who happens to be the operating company of the tower) has set up a golf course named Chiba Prefecture in 1988 under the subsidiary of the Tokyo Tower ; the Tokyo Tower Development. Sadly, this does not profit due to economic recession in Japan.
Facilities of the Tokyo Tower
Other than functioning as a radio and television broadcasting antenna, the Tokyo Tower itself is a tourist destination for many. It houses an aquarium where 50,000 fish can be seen. On its other floors, it has the Believe it or not gallery, a Trick Art Gallery and a Mysterious Walking Zone attraction. Get to enjoy also walking the 600 steps stairwell leading to the main observatory on weekdays and holidays.
