Created in 1948; this garden offers a quiet spot to relax. In Tokyo. In Japanese Hama- rikyu means yellowish. You can find all the rainbow colors in an exotic bed of flowers here. It was acknowledged as the landmark scenic beauty of Japan in 1952.

This garden is a typical Daimyo garden in the Edo period with a tidal pond and two wild duck hunting sites. A tidal pond means a pond that is infused with seawater in order to change flavor along a pond by flood that changes time to time.

This garden is roughly divided into two areas, the south garden whose center is Daimyo garden and the north garden that had been developed after the Meiji period.

After the Meiji Restoration, the garden became the bastion of royal families and officially named Hamarikyu. In 1952, this garden was allotted as the Special Place of scenic beauty and the Special Historic Site.Now the garden is bordered by high- rise buildings of Shiodome business area and contrast between the old and the new is superb.
