Organized by the Arion- Edo foundation, The Tokyo Summer Festival features dance, instrumental music, band music, orchestras, singing and theatre.

Party in the sounds of the drumming, contrabass, cello, flute, accordion, clarinet, cembalo, violin, and piano. The artistes include local musicians and those from countries such as Romania, Algeria, Senegal, France, and Italy. The concerts are held in various venues.
The Tokyo Summer festival is held for the month long period. It holds stage performances, exhibitions and concerts in venues all over Tokyo.

It was created 22 years ago by pianist Kyoko Edo, composer Maki Ishii and musicologist Takashi Funayama. There is a different theme for the festival every year. The focus of the concerts is classical music. There's a large focus on world music, with performances from Sengalese singer Youssou N'Dour with his group Le Super Etoile de Daker, Iranian classical singer Shahram Nazeri and Japanese singer and shanshin player Kazuhira Takeshita.
