The Suntory Museum was founded by Keizo Saji in November 1961. The reveals include paintings, lacquer ware, glassware, ceramics and dyed fabrics.

The works are based on theme 'beauty in everyday life'. Though the 3,000 art pieces are not on permanent display. The museum is renovated that's why close till 2007.

It is following the theme “Art in Life" since 40 years. They have enthusiastically collected Japan's antique arts and crafts. The Collection, distinctively different from a conventional private museum collection based on an individual collector's sense and taste in art, is the fruit of this consistent pursuit, and makes it evident that they have faithfully maintained the primary commitment to extensively gather works of art created through people's lives in Japan.

Now the Collection consists of over 3,000 articles closely connected to Japanese life, as a wide and full art collection with enriched content.

The collection is miscellaneous enough to show the overall development of pottery and porcelain in Japan. Their collection of ancient pottery and porcelain from the Nara and Heian periods consists of tricolor- , green- and ash- grazed pieces.
