The Hatakeyama Museum is rests in a true Japanese building in the fashionable residential area of Shirokanedai. The memorial hall holds a collection of tea utensils, scrolls, porcelain, pottery and lacquer ware.

Among 1,500 works 33 have been designated as important cultural assets and six pieces are national treasures. The famous Japanese artists such as Hotei, Ninsei, Sotatsu, Kenzan and Sesshu are well- represented. There are also excellent Korean and Chinese pieces.

The museum was founded in 1964 by Issey Hatakeyama as a non- profit foundation for the purpose of preserving Chinese, Korean and Japanese art objects and to promote and encourage their appreciation.

The museum building was designed entirely by Issey Hatakeyama. It keeps an atmosphere of calm traditional taste conductive to viewing the objects on display.The museum exhibits are changed four times throughout the year, with some forty or fifty art objects being carefully selected to reflect seasonal nuances.

Admission fees: Adult 500 yen (400 yen), Student 350 yen (300 yen),
