The museum is a 7 minute walk from Kamiigusa station; it takes a 5 minute walk from Kamiigusa- eki Iriguchi stop.

The artwork from one of Japan's best- known illustrators of children's books is in the museum's collection. It is a memorial to Chihiro Iwasaki the museum was founded in 1977 on the site of her studio. The collection includes examples of her personal books and correspondence.

The displays are changed six times a year. The permanent collection consists of some 8,000 original works, including early sketches. The museum has also sponsored exhibits featuring picture books from overseas artists as well as other Japanese illustrators.

It stands on the site where Chihiro Iwasaki lived and worked from 1952 until her death in 1974. The new Tokyo Museum which reflects the time Chihiro actually lived there as well as the history of the former museum. It features an entirely barrier free building offering double the public space of the former structure.

Opening hours: Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm.
Golden Week and August 10- 20 : 10am- 6pm
